The Construction Calendar of the Holy Family Church
In the spring of 1982
the then Bishop of Lublin, Bolesław Pylak, received a written promise from the Lublin Voivode, Tadeusz Wilk, to build sacred buildings in Czuby – a new district of Lublin already inhabited by about 6,000 people. The construction work and the organization of the pastoral center were entrusted to Fr. Ryszard Jurak, the former parish priest from Grabówki. Fr. Leszek Kuna was assigned as his assistant vicar.
The authorities of Lublin
on September 16, 1982, designated a site for the construction of a future church in the center of the new district.
Soon, on September 28, 1982, work began on the construction of a new chapel. Thanks to the enormous commitment of parishioners and pastors, it was built within two and a half months. Along with the chapel, a parish house was built, where two priests resided. A parish office and a catechism room were opened.
At the same time, the bishop blessed the cross in front of the chapel and the site designated for the construction of the future church.
On December 12, 1982.
The chapel was consecrated. The act was performed by priest Zygmunt Kamiński, the then auxiliary bishop of Lublin, assisted by many priests. About 3,000 faithful participated in this solemn ceremony, preceded by an academy and performances by choirs from outside Lublin.
On December 13, 1982
Bishop Bolesław Pylak established the Independent Pastoral Center under the patronage of the Holy Family. The center functioned within the Lublin City Deanery as a branch of the parish of St. Teresa. The rector of the center was the former organizer and builder, Fr. Ryszard Jurak, and the vicar was Fr. Leszek Kuna.
From the offerings and collections of the parishioners
The chapel was equipped with the necessary equipment and liturgical vestments. Christmas 1982 was already celebrated in the new center, and immediately after New Year’s Day, religious instruction began for children from grades 1 to 3 of the local elementary school. The first pastoral visit was a great joy for the priests. Parishioners expressed their gratitude for the presence of the pastoral center and priests. This filled the pastors with great optimism for the tasks ahead.
Since April 1984
nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of the Betan Family (Betanites) have been working in the parish. They manage the sacristy and the household, and they also teach catechism to children.
In October 1984, construction began on a catechism school and a rectory.
The parish of the Holy Family was established
On November 21, 1984 becoming part of the newly formed Lublin-South deanery. After the beginning of pastoral life, extensive preparations for the construction of a church and parish house commenced.
A competition
was organized for a project under the patronage of the Lublin SARP and the Diocesan Curia. Eight works were submitted to the competition. The team of architects: Zbigniew Szeliga, Jacek Bieńkowski and Bożena Szeliga won. The collection of building materials and the creation of a construction base have begun.

On October 10, 1985, he made his first canonical visit to the parish.
In September 1986, a catechetical complex consisting of 9 classrooms was put into use, and three months later, the rectory. The solemn dedication of the parish house was performed by Rev. Jan Śrutwa, Auxiliary Bishop of Lublin.
Right after the Pope's visit
In June 1987, the cornerstone was laid. The construction of the church in its raw state was completed in 1990. The first mass in this church was celebrated by Bishop Piotr Hemperek on Christmas Eve. During the liturgy, he consecrated the House of God.
Since 1991, long-lasting work has been underway
to decorate the temple and its surroundings. Year after year, the interior of the temple becomes more beautiful and the church square more organized.
In 1992, new church doors and gates were installed, and in April, 6 confessionals were set up. From June, the presbytery was being laid with marble. Stations of the Cross were installed.
Years 1994 - 2000
In 1994, the church received new stained glass windows designed by Mr. Marek Piątkowski. The stained glass window in the main altar depicts St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary adoring Jesus in the tabernacle. Plans were also developed for future stained glass windows: in the altar of the Virgin Mary – there was to be a scene of the Annunciation, in the chapel – seven holy sacraments. In the year 2000, Rev. Prelate Tadeusz Pajurek delivered the Word of God during the Corpus Christi celebrations and after the end of the celebrations, he consecrated the altar.
Years 2015 - 2018
In 2015, the liturgical introduction of the new parish priest, Rev. Prelate Tadeusz Pajurek, took place. On June 9, 2017, during the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the stay in the parish of St. John Paul II, Archbishop Stanisław Budzik consecrated our church and the altar.
Since 2016, the church and the rectory have been under renovation. In 2018, a general renovation was carried out with the arrangement of the interior in the chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The consecration of the chapel was performed on August 22, 2018, by Archbishop Stanisław Budzik.

Year 2019
On June 15, 2019, Father Ryszard Jurak celebrated a significant anniversary of his priesthood.
Renovations were carried out, which included:
- Thermal modernization of the church: replacement of all doors and windows, installation of granite flooring in the church and sacristy, with underfloor heating installed beneath.
- Completion of the reclamation of greenery in the Rose Garden, which is an extraordinary gallery of sacred sculptures, and above all, a place of reflection and prayer.
- Work was undertaken on the renovation of the organ and the replacement of the roof.
- Altars were created for St. Jude Thaddeus and Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński.

Rok 2020
15 czerwca świętowano 40. lecie święceń prezbiteratu ks. Proboszcza Tadeusza Pajurka.
W ramach kontynuacji remontu w roku 2020:
- wymieniono mieszki w organach,
- wykonano generalny remont schodów przed wejściami do kościoła i podjazdu dla niepełnosprawnych.
- Utworzono salę duszpasterską w podziemiach świątyni,
- wymieniono okna w kaplicy MB Nieustającej Pomocy,
- zrewitalizowano zieleń w ogrodzie różańcowym.
Organy w głównym kościele.
Świątynia wyposażona jest w wysokiej klasy 48-głosowe organy, które stanowią dar jednej z monachijskich parafii oraz w 12-głosowe w kaplicy MBNP, gdzie odbywa się nieustająca adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu. Od 25 lat w okresie od 9 czerwca do 16 października jest organizowany w naszej parafii Międzynarodowy Festiwal Organowy, przypominający dziedzictwo św. Jana Pawła II.
Relikwie w naszej świątyni
W kościele św. Rodziny przechowywane są dwie relikwie Jana Pawła II: ornat w którym odprawiał Mszę Św. podczas wizyty w parafii w dniu 9.08.1987 r. Ojciec Św. przywiózł ornat ze sobą i podarował go parafii po Mszy św. Jest on udostępniony pielgrzymom w kościele w gablocie, obok klęcznika sprzed wizerunkiem Jana Pawła II. Druga relikwia to krew św. Jana Pawła II. W kościele znajdują się także relikwie św. Ojca Pio, podarowane parafii przez Biskupa Ryszarda Karpińskiego.
Rok 2021
Każdego dnia do Kościoła św. Rodziny na lubelskich Czubach przybywają na modlitwę wierni z całego miasta i jego okolic. O godz. 12.00 każdego dnia sprawowana jest Msza św. za wstawiennictwem Św. Rodziny, która kończy się Litanią do Św. Rodziny. Szczególnemu kultowi Św. Rodziny poświęcony jest każdy wtorek. Nabożeństwa do Św. Rodziny odprawiane są o godz. 11.30 i 17.30. Wiele osób składa do Św. Rodziny prośby o potrzebne łaski.
Wierni nauczaniu św. Jana Pawła II, w parafii zawsze czciliśmy Świętą Rodzinę poprzez liczne nabożeństwa oraz w wielu wspólnotach. Kult ten zintensyfikował się po ogłoszeniu przez Papieża Franciszka roku Rodziny. Parafia stała się miejscem gromadzącym licznych wiernych także spoza jej granic. jest Jedyną w Lublinie, którą odwiedził i w której modlił się św. Jan Paweł II, co spowodowało, że stała się ona miejscem kultu dla naszego świętego papieża i dodatkowym powodem do jej nawiedzenia.
W związku z powyższym ks. Proboszcz Tadeusz Pajurek skierował do Metropolity Lubelskiego, ks. Arcybiskupa Stanisława Budzika list, w którym był wyrazicielem pragnienia całej wspólnoty, z prośbą o ustanowienie w naszej parafii Sanktuarium Św. Rodziny. Ks. Arcybiskup przystał na naszą prośbę i w dniu 27 grudnia 2021 roku, w Uroczystość św. Rodziny ogłosił wiernym, że wkrótce nasza parafia stanie się Sanktuarium.
W celu przygotowania kościoła do uroczystości wykonano szereg prac, Obejmowały one:
- przebudowę prezbiterium,
- odmalowanie wnętrza kościoła,
- umieszczenie w ołtarzu głównym ikony św. Rodziny oraz dwu postaci Aniołów oddających cześć Chrystusowi obecnemu w tabernakulum.
